What everyone needs to know.
Classes meet at Lake Isle; no open-toed shoes; label equipment/clothes; camp runs in light rain; class is not cancelled once begun; indoor bad-weather activities are available; if weather cancels a class, notice is posted on the website and Twitter/X @kevinchingolf; cancelled groups can make up time at another group of same or less time; missed classes receive no credit; students should bring equipment but may borrow equipment.
Rain / Weather Policy
Kevin Chin Golf classes and camps are held in light rain when conditions are safe. Please dress appropriately for the weather. If bad weather occurs, we may move part of the session under cover or indoors and use that time for putting, rules, etiquette, score keeping, golf education, trivia, or other golf-related activities.
Once a class has begun, we generally do not cancel it unless conditions become unsafe. If the weather requires us to cancel a class before it begins, we will post an update on KevinChinGolf.com and communicate through the appropriate contact method. If the lightning alarm is on, students should meet at the golf shop.
If Kevin Chin Golf cancels a group class due to weather, students may make up the time by attending another eligible group of the same length or shorter, based on availability. If a student misses class for personal reasons, no credit or makeup is provided.
Equipment Policy
Students are encouraged to bring their own golf equipment. If a student does not have equipment, Kevin Chin Golf has equipment available to borrow. Please label all equipment and clothing with the student’s name. Families should notify us in advance if a student needs to borrow equipment, especially if the student requires left-handed clubs or a specific size.
Students should wear appropriate golf/course attire. No open-toed shoes are allowed. Lake Isle dress code applies: no jeans or T-shirts, except where noted for winter programs.
All Junior programs
- We accommodate any level. We have a chipping green, a putting green, a driving range, and use of the Lake Isle golf course (when available).
- Junior groups may combine and/or overlap with different age groups.
- In the event of inclement weather we are prepared to spend up to approximately 25% of
the lesson time on material such as putting, learning the rules and etiquette of golf, score keeping, and/or watching golf educational content (YouTube, golf current events, golf trivia, etc.). However, because the weather is unpredictable and there may be bad weather for more than 25% of the lesson time, we may cancel classes or hold them under the canopy in bad weather. For example, if there has been no rain Monday through Thursday, chances are Friday of that week will be held no matter how bad the weather. We may have to cancel due to bad weather. - Canceled camps can be rescheduled with another group to make up the time.
- If you miss on your own, we do not allow make-ups.
- We have a snack bar that accepts cash or credit cards.
- We do not provide transportation.

For summer camps
PGA interns working towards their PGA status typically run these programs, assisted by our staff. The typical breakdown in what we do in a week is as follows (This is in no way a guarantee. This is just a general idea):
- The first day of the week is mostly spent reviewing safety protocols, range etiquette, and (depending on course availability) on-course etiquette and pace of play. We also cover the logistics of where bathrooms are, the snack bar, lounge areas, etc.
- 30% on course (if available); 5% exercises (typical during weather delays)
- 25% range
- 30% short game (chipping + putting) (typical during weather delays)
- 10% golf trivia, rules, and etiquette (typical during weather delays)
Programs led by staff during the school year:
These groups are a great opportunity for your child to get on the golf course, have fun, make friends, and build confidence. These programs have produced plenty of high-level golfers, but our main goal is that they have fun and want to come back. This is not a mechanics-driven instructional program. If you want that, please check out private, semi-private lessons, or groups that work directly with Kevin. Some students may like doing both a group with staff and a group with Kevin. Most of the staff are former participants in our programs and/or Kevin’s students. You can check their bios on our staff page. They are typically high school age.
Groups taught by Kevin:
We are starting this program for those of you who haven’t been able to find availability on Kevin’s lesson schedule, or kids who want more instruction than our other junior programs offer. These groups are for 2 to 4 students, are taught by Kevin, and run for longer periods than most of our other programs. This gives Kevin flexibility to cater to the students’ individual goals. (If there are 2 or fewer students, lesson time will be shorter.
